MAIN STREET UNION CITY TO HOST ‘TACOS & TAMALES’ FUNDRAISING EVENT OCTOBER 7, 2023

UNION CITY, TENN.Main Street Union City is hosting the Third Annual “Tacos & Tamales” fundraising event on Sat., Oct. 7, 2023 in Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Main Street Union City has booked “Los Amigos,” a traditional Mariachi Band, “Danza de los Viejitos,” a performance group displaying traditional Hispanic dances, and a mechanical bull for guests to enjoy. Plus, local vendors and food trucks will have traditional dishes, drinks and desserts available for purchase.

“This is our third year hosting this event, and we are excited to bring it back this fall,” said Rachael McKinney, board chairman of Main Street Union City. “This is an opportunity for our community to come downtown, shop local with our merchants, and then head over to Kiwanis Park for a fun, cultural experience unique to this area.”

Before the event begins, Main Street officials encourage shopping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown since multiple merchants will be offering 10 percent off during a certain hour of the day.

“When we shop local with our downtown merchants, we are making an economic impact on our community, city and county,” said Katie Graves, executive director of Main Street Union City. “We want to make sure we support them on this special event day and invite community members to come downtown and shop local before heading to ‘Tacos & Tamales’ in Kiwanis Park.”

Small businesses participating in the 10 percent discount include Beau & Arrow, Bennett’s, Black Sheep Apparel, the Chocolate Bunny, Sew Charlotte, Sister’s Antiques, Sister Sue’s Boutique & Salon and Vantage Coffee Roasters.

Admission to “Tacos & Tamales” is $5 per person and children three and under are free. Please make plans to bring cash for admission and for purchasing food among the vendors.
